This Sunday, May 11th is Mother’s Day!  St. Augustine will again honor Mothers with a Mother/Daughter Breakfast in the St. Augustine School Gym following the 9:00 a.m. Mass – the MEN will be cooking!

 

 

This Weekend, May 10/11th: Sac red Heart Guild Election of Officers will be held.  Ballots have been placed in the main entrance of Sacred Heart Church – please stop and vote.  For those who cannot vote at Church this weekend, you can cast your ballot at the May Guild Meeting on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 pm – NO POTLUCK!

·         Templeton Senior Citizens will have their noon luncheon in the Sacred Heart School Cafeteria.

·         St. Augustine Combined Choir Practice will be held at 7:00 pm in St. Augustine Church.

·         Sacred Heart Guild Meeting with Election of Officers will be held at 7 pm in the Sacred Heart School Cafeteria – NO POTLUCK!

 

Saturday May 17th: The Kuemper Middle School Science Club is organizing a stream clean-up and your help would be appreciated.  We have selected the stream in Graham Park for this project scheduled for Saturday, May 17th, from 8:30 am to noon.  School age and adult volunteers are welcome though students must come and stay with an adult.  Be prepared with boots or old shoes.  If the weather is a problem that day, this clean-up event will be cancelled.  If you have questions, wish to sign up to volunteer, or wish to make a donation toward this or future Science Club projects. Next Weekend, May 17/18th: The annual collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign will be taken up in our parishes – find special envelope in your packet.

Tuesday, May 20th: Templeton Summer Recreation Program & Swim Lessons Registration will be held from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Templeton City Hall.

 

Wednesday, May 21st:

·         The Core Group will meet after the 8:00 am Mass in Roselle.

·         K.C.S.S. 8th Grade Graduation will take place at 7:00 pm in St. Lawrence Church.

 

Thursday, May 22nd: Sacred Heart Cemetery Clean-up will be held at 6:00 pm.

 

Monday, May 26th is Memorial Day! 

Our Schedule is:

                7:30 am Mass at Sacred Heart Church and

9:15 am Mass at Saint Augustine Church.

 

Halbur Quasi Celebration Note: The Quasi Celebration Committee is asking every family to save 10 milk jugs.  Party Time has agreed to let us use their freezer to freeze these jugs for our celebration bulk ice needs.  About 1 week before the Celebration we will have everyone bring them in filled to the church parking lot and deliver them up there.  They are also in need of ice cream pails.  Please drop off any you can spare to Halbur Enterprises.  Thank You!

 

The Halbur Quasquicentennial Souvenir items are located in the former Halbur School Library.  There are still many items available.  The deadline to order the personalized flag with the logo is June 1st.  the Souvenir Shop will be open on May 11th and June 15th after Mass and on May 22nd and June 26th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  The items are also available at the Halbur Hardware or by contacting DeAnn Eischeid at 658-2461.

 

 

 

July 12th Everyone is invited to attend Halbur’s Parade at 12:00 noon.  Parade entrants are asked to complete the registration form and bring it with them the day of the parish.  We will start taking parade registrations that Saturday , July 12th, at 8 am and you will receive your float # at that time.  We are also asking if you spray water to please be considerate to the crowd.  With the parade route we will not be able to allow any semi-trailers entries.  Trophies will be awarded following the parade.  Be sure to check the website www.halburiowa.com for all up-to-date listing of events.  If you have any questions or need additional information regarding the parade please contact Mark Wittrock at 658-2424 or 658-2014 or Joyce Wittrock at 658-2071 or 658-2585.

 

Friday, July 11th Halbur Quasi Homecoming Supper will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance from the Farmer’s Bank, Halbur Hardware or Halbur Inn.

May is Older Americans Month! Honor the Older Americans in your life and consider how you can make a difference with the Foster Grandparent Program.  Foster Grandparents are individuals age 60 or better who volunteer 15 to 40 hours each week in schools, day care centers, and Head Start sites, mentoring children in need.  Foster Grandparents receive a tax free stipend in addition to many other benefits.  For more information, call Beth Glynn at 712-792-4212.

Thank You: The 24th Annual Friends of Kuemper Ball “Star Celebration” was a huge success because of the dedication and commitment of many people.  Thank you to individuals, businesses, and organizations for your generous monetary contributions.  You are all the “stars” of Kuemper!

Event in the U.S.A.):  The One Million Rosaries for Unborn Babies prayer event is scheduled to happen on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008.  The intention for this Rosary will be: For an end to the surgical and non-surgical killing of unborn babies.  On the day of the prayer event, it is hoped at least one million people in the U.S.A. will be praying the Rosary within the same sixty minute time span (the following chart shows which hour people in various time zones are to pay the Rosary.   People are encouraged to begin praying at the top of the hour, but this is not a necessity).
